ADRA NZ Helps Rebuild Samoan Communities

ADRA is planning to stay in Samoa to help rebuild communities, as the relief phase is moving into rebuilding and recovery.

Robert Patton, Manager, Emergency Management, says that the 30 day food distrubtion programme is meeting the needs of the people in affected communities but support for Samoa will continue beyond this programme.

”We are in the planning stages of how we can contribute to the ongoing recovery efforts here in Samoa. ADRA has had a presence in Samoa for twenty years through the Seventh Day Adventist Church and we want to partner with our local communities to help them rebuild,” says Robert Patton.

There has been a temporary office set up in Apia to assist with the recovery. ADRA has a history in assisting the recovery and development of countries struck by disasters. This long term development expertise is core to ADRA New Zealand’s international portfolio having completed large scale development projects in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Solomon Islands, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency of New Zealand (ADRA NZ) is part of the worldwide network of ADRA offices. ADRA is the humanitarian agency of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and has a presence in 125 countries.

ADRA New Zealand is working closely with ADRA Australia and other ADRA offices around the world to assist the ongoing recovery efforts.

We need continued financial support to help rebuild the lives devastated by the Disaster.. To support ADRA with this cause please donate online or on our call centre 0800 4 999 111.
