60 New Blankets where donated by KinderCare to ADRA New Zealand and Picked up and distributed by Papatoetoe SDA Church from August 19 till all blankets where delivered.
This is just a brief report on where these blankets where distributed to, and what affect it had on the community.
Papatoetoe church, also known as Papsda operate and run a weekly Caravan that provides free burgers to Kids in the Otara community. With the aim of not just feeding the kids once a week but getting to know them and to minister to there real needs.
We have talked to the kids and have found that many of them live in state homes with about 8 to 12 people living in one home. This living situation brings about many challenges to the occupants living in those homes.
With the donation of blankets from KinderCare we have been able to help 20 families with one or more blankets. We have more families that would really have a need for more of these blankets. Sanitarium has also helped us by donating allot of breakfast cereal that has also been distributed to many families that come to the Burger Van (caravan) on a weekly basis.
We were also asked by various ministers if we could give them blankets for there church members and for there ADRA departments to distribute. Thirty blankets were distributed between the Tongan, Samoan and Cook Island churches. They have since requested for more and a call was made to KinderCare to request more blankets.
We would like to thank those involved in the distribution of these blankets and KinderCare for there kind donation.
