Cyclone Idai has been recorded as one of the worst tropical cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere. On the 14th of March it hit in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

With devastating power, Cyclone Idai caused death, destruction and displacement of more than 2,000,000 people. Family homes, plantations and livelihoods have been destroyed, leaving no food and clean water. Within hours of the disaster, ADRA had already activated disaster response teams, and shipped relief items to the hardest hit areas. ADRA responded by providing immediate relief items such as food, shelter and hygiene kits.

Following Cyclone Idai, Cyclone Kenneth hit Mozambique on the 29th of April. ADRA is currently assessing the immediate needs of the people impacted and will updated supporters with details of our response as they become available.
