ADRA New Zealand’s mission is to work with the most vulnerable whether they are suffering through on-going poverty or disasters.
We are an agency that enables families at home and overseas to thrive. We have a team of exceptionally dedicated staff and partner with innovative, accredited and professional organisations. We also engage in partnerships with churches to run projects that serve needs in our own communities in New Zealand. By being connected to a wider ADRA network of 136 countries we are able to respond to disasters around the globe including our Pacific neighbors.
We also work in partnership with countries for long-term development change which gives families living in poverty a hand up.
All funds raised from the ADRA Run this year are going to support an ADRA New Zealand funded project in Timor-Leste. The $90,000 needed to make this project possible will directly increase opportunities for over 6,000 farming families, by providing the network, support, and tools needed to generate higher incomes for their families. With 40% of Timor-Leste families earning less than $2 a week, this project will be life-changing.
This opportunity will also:
Equip farmers to generate and increase sustainable income streams
Create local employment benefiting another 34,000 farmers
Allow children access to education and healthcare
Break the poverty cycle and reduce vulnerability
